An optimist is a person with a positive outlook on life. One who
characteristically looks at events or conditions with optimism. Optimism
is a mental attitude or world view that interprets situations and
events as being best (optimized), meaning that in some way for factors
that may not be fully comprehended, the present moment is in an optimum
state. The concept is typically extended to include the attitude of hope
for future conditions unfolding as optimal as well.

A person who takes advantage of opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle.A person who maximizes his/her benefit in every action he/she takes.

DeleteI think it is important to strike a balance between an optimist and an opportunist. For one, the latter word can be taken negatively. Secondly, it is better to be realistic at times. Beautiful quotes !
