Reflection

I am extremely grateful to the community of April A-Z blogger community for having me as one of the challengers for April 2014. I have had a wonderful journey with you for the last 26 days of blogging.  I have successfully survived the 26 days of blogging and also have earned the survivor tag for self-think so. 

I was new to this challenge this year and would like to thank Ms. Corrinne R. and Mrs Angela David for introducing me to this group of such enlightened bloggers. I have become richer in content, ideas, art of writing after this experience. 

During this one month journey I was nervous, have fumbled, lagged behind the schedule in some posts, lay awake nights thinking of content of posts and how to make it better, reading others blogs, getting excited over the comments.. and of course have become a richer blogger with the experience I have gained.  The one thing that I would like to improve next year is reaching out to more number of bloggers everyday while sustaining the challenge. 

One challenge while posting was I had to wait till I got home as these sites are blocked in my office..that caused little more delay in posts which probably will get settled next year. I would like to apologize  to my fellow blogger whose blog I could not visit but during the next month I would definitely visit your posts and make up...that is a challenge I have kept for myself..

I would like to sign off with the following hoping to be in touch with you through blogs...Everything in life is a reflection of choice one has made. If you want a different result make a different choice.. This reflection has helped me to remember the right choices that i made versus the not so right choices.

Zeal

 Today my post is on Zeal... for life.....Through zeal, knowledge is gotten; through lack of zeal, knowledge is lost; let a man who knows the double path of gain and loss thus place himself that knowledge may grow. 

Also Zeal without humanity is like a ship without a rudder, liable to be stranded at any moment.

But we need to be careful..At least two-thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity: idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religious or political ideas.

You and Yourself

Today I would like to talk about "You.. the being" . The first thing that comes to when my mind is to define who you are in your terms. You cannot be yourself  if you don't understand and  accept yourself. 

Take the time to dwell upon- what you value, take time to consider what makes up the essence of who you are.. believe me if you don't do this life is like incomplete.... If you do this it will go a long way in self actualization and realization.

It is very important to accept that its not possible to be perfect so be kind to your self and treat yourself as you would treat your loved ones..In tune with this the first act of being kind to self is thanking self ...we have a gift of 86400 seconds today have we spent time to thank self. 

Also Life is about finding and creating yourself..Let the world know you as you are not as you think you should be..because sooner or later if you are posing you will forget that you are posing and then where are you?..Remember you are born original don't die a copy...

Everyone occasionally feels blue or sad. But these feelings are usually short-lived and pass within a couple of days. When one has depression, it interferes with daily life and causes pain for both the person and those who care about him/her. Depression is a common but serious illness. You are not depressed when you feel sad for a day or two;

You are depressed when you experience a prolonged period of sadness that interferes with your ability to function. Depression occurs because of an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. It is an illness. And it is highly treatable. Most likely, depression is caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Some types of depression tend to run in families. However, depression can occur in people without family histories of depression too..In addition, trauma, loss of a loved one, a difficult relationship, or any stressful situation may trigger a depressive episode. Other depressive episodes may occur with or without an obvious trigger.

Causes and risk factors for depression  

• Loneliness
• Lack of social support
• Recent stressful life experiences
• Family history of depression
• Marital or relationship problems
• Financial strain
• Early childhood trauma or abuse
• Alcohol or drug abuse
• Unemployment or underemployment
• Health problems or chronic pain 

Reality: Many people with a depressive illness never seek treatment. But the majority, even those with the most severe depression, can get better with treatment. Medications, psychotherapies, and other methods can effectively treat people with depression. Depression, even the most severe cases, can be effectively treated. The earlier that treatment can begin, the more effective it is.

Make healthy lifestyle changes: Lifestyle changes are not always easy to make, but they can have a big impact on depression. One could take a good look at their  own lifestyle. What changes could he/she make to support depression recovery? Self-help strategies that can be very effective include:

•   Cultivating supportive relationships
•   Getting regular exercise and sleep 
•   Eating a healthy, mood-boosting diet
•    Managing stress
•    Practicing relaxation techniques
•    Seek help and support

WELLNESS

Wellness is the state of being healthy in body, mind and spirit. It is a way of living making correct choices,  that encourages good physical and mental well being. Various interrelated dimension of well ness are:

 

SOCIAL: Perform social roles effectively and comfortably, and create a support network.

OCCUPATIONAL: Enjoy your occupational endeavors and appreciate your contributions

PHYSICAL: Maintain a healthy body and seek medical care when needed

INTELLECTUAL: Have an open mind when you encounter new ideas and continue to expand your knowledge

EMOTIONAL: Understand your feelings and cope effectively with stress

SPIRITUAL Develop a set of values that help you seek meaning and purpose.

ENVIRONMENTAL Respect the delicate balance between the environment and ourselves

FINANCIAL: Maintain a balance in financial health
